There's no doubt that the Aurora Borealis is what brought me to Tromsø, Norway. They are often the major highlight of trips 200 miles deep into the Arctic Circle. However the topography, culture, architecture, and wonderful natural light made me fall in love with this special little city. My visits to Tromsø have mainly been during the fall and winter, so there is often very little light during the day. The sun does not rise very far above the horizon. For sunbathing this isn't a great option, but for photography it is mesmerizing. It's like having extra hours of sunset and dusk which are my two favorite lighting conditions to work under. I hope you see the splendor of Tromsø through my images here and find one that would look perfect on your wall space.
